Favourite Running Music

I need to constantly change my entertainment for running or I get bored. At the moment, I am in the middle of an Economist listening streak, and seem to be able to switch off and entirely focus myself on what I am listening to. Other times, I cannot avoid thinking about my running – technique, what’s happening around me, how I feel, my pace etc. – and then The Economist simply won’t work. It takes concentration!

Here is some of the music I have been listening to lately.

Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill (album)

We got listening to this on a lazy Sunday when we had guests round. It always surprises me how good this album is. It also occurred to me how much Alan Morissette sounds like the bagpipes. Think I’m crazy? Listen to “All I Really Want”. Seriously, she has a drone in most her songs.

Oasis (various songs)

Lyrics such as “is it my imagination, or have I finally found something worth living for?” (Cigarettes and Alcohol) really speak to me.

Particular favourites: Morning Glory, Slide Away, Supersonic, Live Forever, Little By Little, Champagne Supernova.

Jason Derulo – Ridin’ Solo

I run solo, and this is a good upbeat song about being alone and loving it.
